Ubisoft’s free-to-play sandbox MMO “Growtopia” rated for Nintendo Switch

Another free-to-play title might be making it's way to Switch in future.

Growtopia, the massively multiplayer online sandbox game from Robinson Technologies, appears to be heading to Nintendo Switch. Publisher Ubisoft has submitted the free-to-play title to the Taiwanese rating board for certification on Nintendo’s latest device.

The Nintendo Switch’s roster of free-to-play titles seems to keep expanding every day. Now, thanks for an early rating submission by Ubisoft, it looks as though Switch players could soon be able to get their hands on the 2D open world MMO Growtopia.

Racking up over 15 million user accounts since it’s initial launch in 2012, Growtopia pitches itself as an “MMO game where everyone is a hero”.  Players can build worlds together, play mini-games, join guilds, craft and trade items, wield lightsabers, take part in events, cook food, and even craft their own quest-like worlds.

Last month, on January 30th 2019, Ubisoft submitted Growtopia for PS4 and Xbox One ratings in Korea. So it certainly seems as though console ports could be on their way. The new Taiwanese rating not only adds fuel to the fire but also the Nintendo Switch to the list of potential release platforms.
